“Elena is a still-life photographer. Her passion for objects comes from her father, one of the greatest Russian principal dancers, who crossed the Iron Curtain under Brezhnev. She builds her imaginary journeys from all the things he sends her, which bring her closer to him. But her encounter with Sacha, also Russian, mysteriously leads her to question these objects. Russian history takes her on the trail of the writer Mikhail Bulgakov and Soviet censorship, of a secret love and a pact with the Devil. The objects turn out to be very talkative.
